ABAP Los destinos RFC
RFC Destinations
An RFC destination serves as a gateway facilitating communication between a SAP system and another SAP or non-SAP system. It is also known as RFC connections. These destinations are established in SAP using the standard RFC connection configuration transaction SM59.
Transaction SM59
Through transaction SM59, we can create, modify, view, and delete RFC connections. The impact of this transaction extends to the standard SAP database table RFCDES. Notably, the RFCDES table lacks the client field as the first and key part of the table. Consequently, this table is client-independent, meaning modifications apply universally across all clients in the working environment.
Types of RFC Destinations
- ABAP Connections.
- HTTP Connections to external servers.
- HTTP Connections for ABAP systems.
- Internal Connections.
- Logical Connections.
- TCP/IP Connections.
- Connections with ABAP driver.
Creating, Viewing, Updating, and Testing RFC Destinations - SM59
Creating an RFC Destination
- Click "Create" to initiate a new destination.
- In the next screen, enter a name for the RFC destination, e.g., "PU3" and specify the connection type as "ABAP Connection" (Type 3).
- Further down, in the technical options tab, fill in the Target Host and Instance No.
- For the Database Storage Class, select "Host Name" and enter the host name as "saptst"
- Complete or skip other fields based on the connection type.
- In the System Logon/Security tab, provide the connection language, client, and user.
- Save the new RFC destination.
Modifying and Viewing an RFC Destination
- To modify or view an RFC destination, simply click the respective button based on the desired action.
Testing an RFC Destination
- Check if an RFC destination functions correctly by modifying or viewing it and clicking "Connection Test" in the next screen. A successful connection redirects to a new screen. Testing is crucial to ensure proper functionality. If issues arise, error details and descriptions are displayed.
Entering the Remote System
- Access the remote system pointed to by the RFC connection by clicking "Enter Remote System" This option launches the SAP connection screen, where credentials for the destination system are entered. SM59's ability to log into another client is valuable when lacking an entry in SAP LOGON, especially if IP address or string details are unknown.
