Slipstream Engine.
Es una aplicacion UI5 que se ejecuta en el navegador o en el dispositivo móvil y es capaz de leer/interpretar el flavor de Screen Personas para mostrarlo en el dispositivo, adaptando la visualización al mismo.
The Slipstream Engine is a component of SAP Screen Personas, introduced in version 3.0 Service Pack 6, designed to enhance the user experience by enabling the rendering of traditional SAP GUI transactions on mobile devices. This engine facilitates the transformation of complex SAP screens into a more user-friendly, Fiori-like interface, making it easier for users to interact with SAP applications on smartphones and tablets.
Key Features and Functionality- Mobile Optimization: The Slipstream Engine allows SAP GUI transactions to be accessed via mobile devices, leveraging the SAPUI5 framework to provide a consistent and responsive user experience. This includes support for native device capabilities such as camera and GPS when accessed through the SAP Fiori client.
- Integration with Fiori: It integrates seamlessly with the SAP Fiori Launchpad, enabling users to trigger flavored transactions just like standard Fiori apps. This integration requires the establishment of target mappings and specific configurations within the SAP environment.
- Client-Side Rendering: The engine performs rendering on the client side, which reduces the load on the SAP backend and allows for dynamic content adaptation. This setup also enhances performance and user interaction.
- Improved User Experience: By transforming traditional SAP GUI screens into Fiori-like interfaces, the Slipstream Engine significantly enhances user productivity and satisfaction. It simplifies navigation and reduces the training time required for users.
- Cost Efficiency: The ability to render screens effectively on mobile devices can lead to reduced operational costs and improved data quality, as users can access necessary information on-the-go.
- Transaction Restrictions: The Slipstream Engine operates with a blacklist/whitelist system for transactions. If a transaction code (T-code) is blacklisted, it cannot be executed. Conversely, if it is whitelisted, it can be executed without issues. T-codes not listed in either category may run but with warnings.
- Limited Customization: The flavor editor for Slipstream Engine is less robust compared to traditional SAP GUI, with limitations on theming and certain GUI frontend services not being supported.
- Not a Standalone Product: It is important to note that the Slipstream Engine is not a standalone application but a component of SAP Screen Personas, meaning it requires the underlying infrastructure of SAP systems to function effectively.
The Slipstream Engine represents a significant advancement in the SAP ecosystem, particularly for organizations looking to modernize their SAP interfaces and improve mobile access. By enabling a more intuitive and efficient user experience, it aligns with SAP's broader strategy of enhancing usability and accessibility in enterprise applications
